Fair Work Commission
Ian Masson was appointed as a Deputy President to the Fair Work Commission in July 2017 and is currently National Practice Leader for enterprise agreements within the Commission.
Prior to his appointment, Ian worked in operational, senior executive and industrial relations roles across the manufacturing, mining, oil, and gas sectors in a career that commenced in 1986. He has also worked in almost every state of Australia including New South Wales, Tasmania, Queensland, Western Australia, and Victoria.
Immediately prior to his appointment, Ian worked for ExxonMobil Australia as its Industrial Relations Manager and before that, as the Vice President of Human Resources for Woodside Energy Ltd. During this period, he led the planning and execution of labour relations strategy on some of the largest construction projects in Australia over the past two decades.
Ian also worked for several years as the Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association’s (formerly AMMA) National Industry Manager and in that role was responsible for industrial relations policy development and advocacy, representing the Australian resource sector at International Labour Organisation forums and serving as a director on the Board of the now Maritime Super Fund (formerly SRF).
