This virtual fireside chat is an interactive discussion between presenters Peta Willoughby and Rachel Varshney. In the presentation Peta and Rachel discuss recent changes relating to sexual harassment in the workplace, focusing particular attention on the catalyst for many of the changes, the Respect@Work report, and the legislative changes that have been put in place to address the report findings. There is an analysis of modifications to the Commonwealth statutes, the Sex Discrimination Act and the Fair Work Act and Rachel and Peta then discuss how the changes look with a comparison to current Queensland state legislation. The presentation then switches to a practical look at how sexual harassment in the workplace has been treated in case law, and what the takeaway issues are for employers who may need to implement changes to their policies and procedures and/or otherwise monitor compliance.
